A city council must be as smart as the citizens it represents.

Our council’s budget must employ smart fiscal planning to ensure that we pay as we go, live within our means and save for rainy days.

Smart fiscal planning includes:

• Crafting a balanced city budget every year.
• Maintaining a healthy reserve fund.
• Ensuring the long-term fiscal health of the city.

We must increase and diversify revenues by attracting new businesses and entertainment to our vibrant downtown and neighborhood shopping centers.

We must encourage new green technology firms that provide jobs and conform to our green values to join our community.

We must continue to explore the benefits of becoming a charter city and the flexibility it would create.
